Queensland’s Blue Card System

In Queensland, Australia, the Blue Card is a vital tool in protecting children from harm by ensuring that people working with children are thoroughly checked for any criminal history. The Blue Card system is part of the Queensland Government’s child protection efforts and is mandatory for all individuals in roles that involve direct contact with children.

At North West Saints, we are fully committed to adhering to the Blue Card system. All our coaches, volunteers, and staff who work with children are required to hold a current and valid Blue Card. This ensures that only suitable individuals are involved in coaching or assisting with our youth programs, providing parents and carers with peace of mind.

What is a Blue Card?

A Blue Card is an identification card issued after a person has undergone a criminal history screening. The card ensures that an individual is legally cleared to work or volunteer with children. It plays a crucial role in child safety by helping to minimise the risk of harm.

Why is the Blue Card Important?

  • It helps maintain a safe environment for children by ensuring that adults who work with them are thoroughly vetted.
  • It ensures that the staff and volunteers interacting with your child have been assessed and approved to hold a role in child-related work.
  • It contributes to our overall commitment to child protection and safety in the community.

At North West Saints, we take child safety seriously and ensure that all our staff and volunteers are compliant with the Blue Card system. The Blue Card is part of our broader effort to maintain the safest possible environment for children to participate in basketball.

Our Commitment to Child Safety

North West Saints Basketball Club is proud to be part of the effort to safeguard children in sports. We follow all local regulations and go above and beyond to ensure our child protection measures are up-to-date, transparent, and fully compliant with Queensland’s child safety requirements.

If you have any questions or concerns about child safety or the Blue Card system, please feel free to reach out to our Child Safety Officer, Anita, at volunteer@nwsaintsbasketball.com.au. We are here to help and ensure that your child has a safe, fun, and rewarding experience at North West Saints.
